My turn,

I think life without my phone should be ok except got to get use to the inconvenience caused.

I’ve switched off my phones over the weekend before so no one is able to contact me.

But if it’s going to be a long term thing, I will

- not be able to take pictures,

- have to get an alarm clock,

- have to buy phonecard

- have to keep some 10 cents coins

- have to get a phonebook

- have to get a sudoku book

I will still survive but an eight year habit is not easy to quit.

Let me show you some of the phones I “got hold” of.

too used to an on/off button thus had a hard time figuring out how to turn this phone off.

There are just teenagers around who kept insisting of breaking the rules and some just did it too openly. Also found out that majority of them used their [...]

Yesterday saw the TV news regarding Samsung launching the 8MP camera phone (INNOV8). Not very sure about the details, as if it’s really launched - on sale or what. Can’t trust the news nowadays, they like to mix up the use of certain words.

where is Sony Ericsson’s C905? they always come up with the features then wait [...]

Do you switch off your phone before you sleep? Or do you just leave it on?
I off mine because I do not want to be disturbed at night.
There’s the silent mode but I still prefer the phone to be off (can save battery too!)

Now here comes the irritating part, friends who sent you sms at [...]

I sort of “forced” someone to write the following…

Life without my phone has been terrible. I have been unable to contact my friends, or arrange sessions with my tuition teacher. Also, when I go out, my parents are unable to contact me in case of an emergency and have forced me to take my brother’s [...]

After the initial problem with the program, I gave it another try.

Now it seems better though loading still takes time.

You can select which channel to watch but do note that you won’t be able to do anything, example every time I took a screenshot, the program will stop and to play it again means taking [...]

As you know, waiting for someone or being stuck in a meeting can be boring. I have a short attention span, so games can be boring after a few plays. Listening to music, fine but in a meeting?
That’s why I like to surf net on the go, and that’s also one reason why I [...]

Yesterday, I was at the museum for the Studio Festi performance: The Dancing Sky. It’s stunning! Especially the flying ship part, simply captivating.

Ok, back to purpose of this post, actually it’s somehow linked to my previous one.
Was taking pictures, mostly using my ixus with no support. My night shots sucks

Somehow I just wanted some pictures [...]

Holding on to 2 phones – N95 8gb (5MP) and k800i (3.2 MP), all due to their photo taking quality. Recently consciously or unconsciously, I find myself using back k800i as the photo taking phone more. Quality wise, 5MP vs 3.2MP, but on screen, both are ok. So it all boils down to the convenience [...]

I like to compare.
So let’s see what quality can the 2 3.2MP camera produce - K800i and E71.

How do you connect your mobile phones to your PC?
For me, long long ago, I don’t because there’s not much data, or zero data to transfer. Then came along T610, finally there’s a need as I have to transfer the photos taken. It was infrared, then Bluetooth. Not in favor of using the data cable [...]

3.2 MP camera, do you know that I had a hard time taking pictures using the phone at the beginning? Come to think of it, so far all the phone I used, I have never refer to the user manual and was able to take nice shots, but that cannot be said for E71. For [...]

This is the second phone that I’ve used having the QWERTY keypad (first one was the E90). Though the keys looked small but they were not uncomfortable. Using my fingers, actually my nails to press the keys, made typing much much faster. Did not realize that I was not using the predictive text input. This [...]

Though I have used my phones to retrieve email but that is just using the browser to do so and not getting the mail to be downloaded to the phone. Setting up was easy using the e-mail wizard, just need the email address and password.

Had a chance to use the E71 for a few days. This is one really slim phone. Love at first sight? Not to that extreme but I really like how the phone looked and feel. Majority of the phone is made of stainless metal and not some creaky plastic. The phone just felt the right [...]

OK, actually not really going to talk about the music part of the phone since I’m still comfortable with my iriver H10.

Are you able to spot which photo is taken by which phone? Which one you prefer?
Or to you there are no differences in the photos?
I would not say they are the best one taken, but I tried to keep all variables constant and make it as fair as possible.

A typical nokia 3.2 MP phone. Nothing special about it, maybe except the geotagging feature. The data will be recorded in the EXIF so you can know where the photo was taken, especially overseas.
Try entering the longitude and latitude in google maps and find out where this picture was taken.

Been using the N78 for a few days, now let’s see what I have to say about this phone.

Have you seen the latest phone model from Samsung, LG, and SE? Been seeing more touch screen features in such phones. So far, I’ve mainly used candy bar, and one slider phone. Touch screen… played with HTC touch before but actually using one, still a no.

My friends and I were planning on where to go for the June holidays. Finally after we decided on the destination, we started to think of what to do there. As I had my data sim card with me, so just pop it into the phone and off we go googling.

I’ve been confiscating handphones whenever they were seen popping up at the wrong place at the wrong time. I’ve also seen students using various models of handphones, some change phone like nobody’s business. Out of so many brands, the 2 most common one will be Nokia and SE.

I’ve gone back using SE k800i as my main phone, at least for now.
What happened?
To cut the long story short, my n95 8gb is now for surfing purposes as I’ve put the data sim card inside instead.
Having 3 sim cards is really a hassle. Now waiting for contract to end and do some reshuffling.

I normally stick to one theme once I’ve found it to be simple, decent and pleasing to the eye. However during holiday season, I will change the theme to fit the holiday mood - Christmas, Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Mooncake Festival….

One thing I realised on N81 8gb and also on N95 8gb that’s different from E90 is how the phone notified user of missed call or sms.
Personally felt it’s better and neater in E90 as it will show up as a line under the active standby applications rather that a popup display in N81 8gb.

There is this Navi wheel in N81 8gb. I did not read the user guide beforehand and tried it straight away. I thought was the wheel spoilt?

The data transfer rate is slow considering this phone is released in 2007. Are they still using usb 1.0? (btw same can be said for N95 8gb which is quite a disappointment)

The phone is aesthetically designed, smooth outline, looks more like a mp3 player than a phone.
Smsing using one thumb is a pleasant experience due to keypad layout. It’s even more comfortable compared with the N95 8gb especially the last row *0#. Not forgetting that the keypad slides out smoothly and readily.
The screen is built-in similar [...]

Got the N81 8gb to try out. As the camera is only 2MP, I just do not have the urge to test it out. However I loaded some mp3 into the phone. Sound quality is good, no complain about that. Play, stop, pause, fast forward, rewind can be done with ease. However touted as a [...]

Had returned E90 the other day. So before I moved on to N81 and maybe N95 8gb, here’s a summary of this user personal experience.

Tried out the GPS on E90 again, this time really in open area, no tall buildings around. Within seconds, the phone detected five satellite signals. Starting to zoom in… Success!

I have been trying to get the GPS on E90 to work but all ended up in failure. It’s either no signal or the phone only managed to receive 1 or 2 satellite signal. I’ve read about how easy it’s to get the GPS connected, accurate… etc but why can’t I do that?

We’ve heard people saying if you want to take good picture, get a camera instead of depending on a camera phone, so one should not be complaining about the quality of camera phone. Recently the inbox received the 1000th messages.

The difference between my previous SE phone and Nokia way of sms storage:
SE (comparing k800i)
Total in inbox + sent + … = 1000. The phone will prompt you when it is reaching the limit, asking you to delete some messages to free up spaces.
Nokia (E90)
Total in inbox… dunno yet, [...]

Having 1000+ (1190 actually) messages in your inbox is not that fun actually as I have found out. The messaging was getting laggy – reading, composing, too laggy for my liking.

Now the speed is back to normal.
