I have been shopping at Amazon and received my parcels recently. Well, in case you’re wondering if Amazon has extended their shipping to Singapore, no they did not, I use other services to receive my goods.
Anyway, inside my parcel, I found a plastic bag that says “Cell Phones for Soldiers”. I’m not sure if I’ve played too much games to think this way, but my first thought was like, what kinda game promo is this? Gah, non-US citizen.
This is actually a business reply mail which you can deposit the cell phone you want to donate. It will eventually go to the soldiers who are fighting the war at Iraq and they can use it to call home. I was telling Leon about it and he added that there are also games donation programs which send games to these soldiers so that they can destress.
In one of the photos he saw, the soldiers were looking very happy with lousy old games in their hands. I bet if they get the latest games, they would be over the moon x 100.
“The Cell Phones for Soldiers program was started in April 2004 by 13-year-old Brittany Bergquist and her 12-year-old brother Robbie of Norwell, Massachusetts.
Robbie and Brittany’s goal is to help our soldiers serving overseas call home. They hope to provide as many soldiers as possible with prepaid calling cards. Through generous donations and the recycling of used cell phones, Robbie and Brittany have already distributed thousands of calling cards to soldiers around the globe.” via www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com
Kudos to these young siblings and enough Paris Hilton wannabes. The world needs more people like Brittany and Robbie.
Hope the war could end soon.

@abc
The welfare for the US soldiers at Iraq has been bad, but I’m not telling you which cause deserves the donation more.
You are free to donate to whichever cause that you support. =)
You mean it is better to donate cellphones and calling to US Soldiers occupying Iraq than say, to donate them to relief agencies in disaster areas like China and Burma? The Army Camp they are based in got no telephone?
