Synchronization - Windows Media Player Style

November 14, 2007

Previously, we have presented the Nokia Music Manager as a transfer platform for all your music needs. The power of the Nokia Music Manager is its efficiency to transfer and convert any existing MP3s on your system onto your Nokia multimedia device. However, for audiophiles who swear by media players like Windows Media Player or iTunes, we present to you a simple yet organized way to synchronize your playlists on both your system’s media player, and your Nokia multimedia device.

Connect your Nokia multimedia device via USB, and select Media Player mode when prompted.

If this is the first time that your multimedia device is connected, driver installation may be required, so if your Windows doesn’t have the necessary drivers yet, do use the bundled PC Suite CD that came with your device.

Next, start up your Windows Media Player. If the device drivers have been successfully installed as per the last step, you should see your Nokia multimedia device being recognized as a device to be synced by Windows Media Player.

Simply put, all you need to do is to drag any existing MP3s on your Windows Media Player playlists into the sync list.

Once your selection is complete, click on the Start Sync button located at the bottom right, hold onto your seats and wait for the synchronization process to be completed, which is dependent on the number of songs you’ve dragged in to synchronize.

Furthermore, you can setup automatic synchronization, which will ensure that new files added on either your system or your mobile device would be updated accordingly. For automatic synchronization, just follow these few additional steps:

As illustrated, using Windows Media Player for a full synchronization between your mobile devices can be easily achieved, and this could be done in a similar fashion for an iTunes enthusiast, as we shall present to you in a follow-up article.
