The Search is On!

Nokia Search is a powerful tool that aids you with your queries on the latest happenings, locations, events, and provides you fast and accurate information at your fingertips. Its purpose is to sift through the myriad of applications, files and information found within your Nokia device and retrieve the specific information you seek in the shortest span of time. To harness the full prowess of Nokia Search, take a trip with us as we give you the steps to fully utilize Nokia Search and its accompanying applications.

Click on Menu, then select Search, and you’ll find yourself looking at a list of applications that Nokia Search is capable of looking through.

As mentioned, Nokia Search performs a precise search according to your input. For example, you might have installed an application, but forgotten the destination folder that you’ve placed it in. By entering the application name within the search entry field, Nokia Search dives through all available files and displays the closest matching entry, as seen here.

E.g., If you want to look for the game – Space Impact. First, type in the name Space Impact in the entry field.

Following which, the closest matches to your search criteria will be found and listed out as below. From here, you can access your selected results.

Nokia Search becomes really useful when you are searching for a specific message pertaining to a subject, especially so in sea of messages.

E.g. if you’re searching for messages from a friend, just type his/her name, and Nokia Search returns you with a list of files, including messages, which contains the searched name.

Expanding upon this high-powered search functionality, Nokia has also combined its search engine with Mobile Yellow Pages, presenting users with more search options than ever before. Integrated within Nokia Search as a Service, Mobile Yellow Pages provides you with the most updated information on any amenities that you are searching for.

To get started, install the Mobile Yellow Pages plugin into your Nokia Search application. Click on Search the Internet as highlighted below:

Next, click Options > Check for Updates. A network connection is required as your device will be checking for any available updates for your Nokia Search. After a connection is established and a check with the server is done, you’ll find Mobile Yellow Pages as an option available for downloading. Click on Mobile Yellow Pages, follow the instructions as prompted, and you’ll have an additional search service ready for use.

Enter Mobile Yellow Pages, and you’ll have the following landing page.

The concept is simple. Let’s say you are searching for a restaurant for the ideal Valentine’s Day date. If you have one in mind and wish to make the reservation, enter the restaurant name and click on Search.

Based on the search criteria, a list of restaurants that matches the entry would be displayed and shown. Pick the restaurant of your choice, and you’ll be provided with the full details of the restaurant, such as a short description, the address and contact number.

As you might have noticed, there are additional options such as Show on map, Navigate to and Save as landmark. With these extended search function, Mobile Yellow Pages is actually able to work seamlessly with your device’s Nokia Maps, allowing you to find, locate and navigate to the destination of your choice using these tools that compliment each other.

By clicking on Show on map, the exact location of the restaurant is pinpointed on your Nokia Map. To go one step further, click on Navigate to, and you’ll have the restaurant saved as your destination, and all you need to do, is choose your point of origin, be it via your current GPS location, or a place of your choice.
