Nokia Messaging - Taking Instant Messaging Everywhere!
There was a time when phone calls were expensive and I would continually look for various ways to get the message across to my friends and this has evolved over time. Started with the SMS where I send short messages to my friends, but this too came at a cost, which even today is about 5 cents for 160 characters.
Then there came the Internet and instant messaging, allowing various parties to hold conversations over the Internet, firstly this is “free” as I just need a active Internet connection and I can chat away. Unlike the phone or SMS this provided a cost effective solutions to spend time chatting with friends.
Instant messaging being popular with most of us and has now become the next wave of over the air conversations and our mobile devices equipped with HSDPA allows us to get on the net and chat with friends anywhere we are

Nokia has enabled their handsets to also provide instant messaging services and using Nokia Messaging I can enable chat via Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger or Ovi Communities. This will keep me connected my friends wherever I may be and I do not need to sit behind a computer before I can keep myself updated with the happenings of my friends.
So check out Nokia messaging and enable instant messaging on the go!

Took a break today and spent some time packing up the stuff in my room and I did come across some pretty neat phones I used to own when I was younger.
I found my 8810 and the 6610 and boy are they primitive, both only have a gray scale screen and what’s more they only […]
We all have desires that we would like to fulfill in our lives and for some GADGETS are that influence. We get sucked in to always desire for that new model, one that performs better then the old version. Something new and innovative tickles our senses and make us just want to buy buy buy! […]
We never live a day without using e-mail and it’s becoming more pervasive in our lives when everything is about instant or fast! Even now e-mails are everywhere and no longer do we need to be confined to the boundaries of our desk to be served up our latest e-mail, we just have to view […]
My Nokia N97 came pre-installed with a copy of Buses@SG and it’s a handy application which helps me know the bus route as well as the bus schedule.
For the bus route, all you got to do is input the bus service number and you will be returned information about the bus service via a online […]
I do need to keep a tight schedule, especially in an environment where we try our very best to value add to our customers. To ensure that all my appointments are in check, I make use of the calender function of the phone to key in those appointments as and when they occur.
Remember the saying, […]
Over the past decade, social media has become the buzz word of our generation and a huge conversation is being carried out the Internet via the various social media portals. The more prominent ones of this period include Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Myspace.
Social media was mostly conduced via a computer and most will update their […]
As most of you know, the Nokia E72 is coming soon and I’ve great interest in this upcoming phone. Having used the Nokia E71 previously, the phone feels well built and really nicely designed for the busy executive.
The upcoming Nokia E72 will be based on the same shell with it’s button layout slightly tweaked. […]
Don’t you love birthdays? Not that your friend is getting older but celebrating the coming of age. I was at Corde’s B’day earlier and she had all her relatives and friends over for her 21st. So here is to you! Happy Birthday.
But there was one of her uncles who was into mobile phones and we […]
Last evening my company organized a talk with Starbucks to share with us what goes into a cup of their freshly brewed coffee. So they introduced to us to coffee tasting and their organisation. Sharing with us their mission statements and their 5 “Be-s”, this has enabled them to provide great service through out their […]
I’ve noticed that the people that I hang out with are rather geeky in nature, we always discuss on the latest gadgets and go places where we can get our gadget fix. In Singapore there are a couple of places where we can browse and potentially buy new “toys” as we term it.
For starters we […]
Applications have often taken a back seat when it comes to Nokia devices and most of the time they are done by third party developers who may at times develop an application that does not work particularly well causing it to make the device look not as desirable as it should be.
However with the Nokia […]
I’ve got the stomach flu~ feeling so terrible at this moment and all my body is shouting for is REST! I’ve been prescribed the most number of medicines I ever saw in my life! Salts, pills, and more!
This is a time when I do not want my mobile device to ring, cause the rest is […]
I’ve been thinking about this question, what is the one thing you cannot live without? I’ve realised that everyone has different wants and items they wish to have when left in a situation for example being hospitalised.
Here are the things which people will like, based on my feedback from my friends.
1) Book
2) Study Notes
3) […]
There are two things happening this weekend, Games Convention Asia and Super Import Nights! Well it’s going to have loads of things to see, there are a couple of game companies highlighting their stuff over at the games convention. I wonder if Nokia will be showcasing the Ngage games over at the convention?
Super Import Nights […]
Available for pre-order this phone cum mini-computer is for those that demand performance and enjoy a well designed interface. Although Nokia has over the years already been constantly improving their interface and how the phone interacts with their customers this is a whole new ball game with an entirely new platform for us customers.
So instead […]
It was bad, the update of my blog software decided to crash on me! I just got it repaired so once again I’m back! Talk about bad luck.
On a separate note I’ve been using the Nokia N97 for about a couple of months now and it’s still a good phone the slider and touch screen […]
Apologies on my lack if updates over the last few weeks, been really caught up with my other commitments especially when it’s the season to apply for awards. But I’m back and will share my life with Nokia. Where I left off was my life with the N97, it was good and useful being able […]
Yes people the weekend is over and I’ve still a lot to do! How was everyone else’s weekend hope it was a smashing good time.
Sometimes I do wonder if technology would really help us work better, we got phones that set up our “time table” for the week and we have computers that run really […]
Noticed that I seldom get any questions with regards to Nokia phones, so for the benefit of everyone do drop me a comment from time to time to get some of your doubts cleared up.
What is a good way? Well you could drop me a comment in any of my post and I’ll get back […]
With the new Symbian S60 V5 phones the screens have been changed to cater for touch are hence longer then the usual phone we have so the previous screen shot application which I recommended previously is no longer useful for those who have moved on to the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic or the Nokia N97.
Presenting Best […]
Yo all, I’ve created a video on information which you can personalise on the Nokia N97. Check out my video Personalise - Nokia Zone Thematic Video and do remember to vote for me. I’m the Guru with the white iPod touch, thanks to all my readers for your support.
The Nokia N97 is moving away from […]
The Nokia N97 charges via it’s USB port! How about that! No more additional plugs for charging, now everything goes via one port, so I can do syncs, copy files, charge and use the Internet on my Mac all via one single port!
Brilliant, now just hope that every phone company adopts this so that […]
I just love instant messaging, love the real time updates and chats and I do not live a day without getting connected. Introducing Contacts on Ovi, a mobile social networking tool which gets me connected with my friends and family all on my Nokia mobile device.
One cool feature is the ability to share your location, […]
Nope it’s not Christmas people! It’s time for me to upgrade my handset, yay! I can finally get a new handset at a moderately good discount. So many phones to choose from the Nokia N97, Nokia E72 (coming soon), Samsung Galaxy, HTC Magic, iPhone 3GS and the list goes on and on and on. I […]
I think most of you know that I’m a Mac user and I just love the way they integrate technology into their products. So since more Macs are popping up around I think Nokia has taken some interests in this groups of users.

I found this off a blog, showing OVI sync for the Mac […]
Hello says the N97, as it powers on for the first (eh wait maybe not first time, think factory, test facilities, QC chambers) in my hands, the familiar Nokia chime rings and fills my room as the screen comes to life. The signature handshake, but wait! An unfamiliar screen presents itself to me and I’m […]
Yo everyone, I’m back again to bring you more on what Nokia has to offer to us here in Sunny island Singapore. The last couple of months have been exciting with the comes with music launch and of course the 5800 (the phone in Batman). So lets see what’s in store, we’ll be getting the […]
Woo I’m so excited, the N97 is launching soon in Singapore and I can’t wait to get my hands on this model. I do think the QWERTY keyboard can come in rather useful and considering that the phone size is still manageable it would make a good leisure and business phone. Much like a mini […]
Just found out that I can access the mobile version of the GV web site to book my movie tickets in advance. You can access it via http://m.gv.com.sg and enjoy the convenience, no longer do I need to have to power on my notebook and book, just find a public WIFI with my N65 […]
It’s so exciting doing a little DIY from time to time and my current craze is to customise the various cables for my sound systems. After some research and asking around I managed to learn a little more about doing up my own cables! Yeah you heard it, other then clear sound, you get […]
Went to Batam for a company trip over the weekend, it was good fun with lots of activities, maybe a little too much, make it not like a holiday. Well today I’m back at work again and boy am I exhausted! Hit the sheets at 9:30pm last night and woke up at 7:30am today.
We did […]
It’s the time of the year when the weather is erratic and people start falling sick. I guess it’s time to take care of my health so that I do not catch anything nasty. I’ve been taking my daily dose of vitamin C, fruits and veggies, however dust keeps irritating my noise and I feel […]
I wonder how many of use turn off the phone when we head to bed. I would say there are very very few occurrences in my life where I need the phone to be turned on through the night. My phones have always been turned on ever since I purchased them.
I just wonder what would […]
Well it’s something we do see from time to time, especially evident when the person steering the car does not seem to be responding very fast or driving really slow.
I guess it’s about responsibility really, I mean driving and talking really takes the concentration away from the wheel, with one hand on phone or at […]
I recently come to know that Nokia Comes with Music is no longer the only company that provides unlimited music download service. Sony Ericsson recently released their version of CWM and it tied to a contact with data access from Singtel.
However what I do not really like about PlayNow + is that the songs that […]
Have you watch those TV commercials where someone has a heap load of stuff on their inbox to clear and while doing so some other thing just comes along and stuffs itself inside the insane list of items to do? Well I guess it does really happen in real life as well, so humans should […]
Was attending a Flesh Imp event one of the weeks (ok a while ago), and tried desperately to capture the moment with my camera, but alas I’m not the best of photographers and I was not in the best position to get good shots. Suddenly there was this segment where some guys doing their mambo […]
I’m trying to get to sleep tonight, it’s quite a chore especially when I’m in a new place. Although it’s great and the place is quite fine I’m still finding it hard to sleep, yeah I’m quite surprise, exterior looks quite crap but the interior is nice, great rooms and good decor, even the rooms […]
I was handed the Nokia E75 the other day, I must say that the keyboard is rather handy as it allows me to input text rather quickly. As expected of the E series phones there is of course a lack of multimedia functions, which means Radio is out, however since this phone caters to business […]
Not that my phone is not (Made in China) MIC, however there seems to be a large number of “China brand” phones available on the market these days. So apart from the regular brands like Nokia, Samsung etc. we’ve been given more choices.
From the images I found, the phones look like replicas […]
Oh my, how fast the weekend has pass. It was not too long ago when I was lazing around home, cleaning up my room and doing some misc stuff. However it’s now over and it’s the start of the week. Kind of a sinking feeling don’t you think?
My phone just went off, alerting me […]
Nokia has started to ship their new E series handset, designed for emails in mind this phone has a new email interface and slide out keyboard.
The interface now features expanded views, one click reply, sub-folders and HTML support. The E75 also has Nokia Messaging integrated into the system so you can get push mail […]
Other then fascination for phones, eh wait I think all electronics in general. I also take a keen interest in gaming and yeah I do play a fair bit (remember boys and girls to allocate your time properly, remember gaming is not everything). Those playing Gears of War 2 can find me on Xbox Live […]
Recently I meddled with Nokia PC suite to use the various functions available. One such application I tried was the Nokia Software Updater, and it really makes upgrading of the phone software rather easy.
Connect your phone to Nokia PC Suite, do a backup using Nokia Content Copier, this will create a snap shot of […]
The recent copy of Hardware Zone Magazine has quite a few upcoming mobile phones being featured, one of which is the N86 with a 8 Megapixel Carl Zeiss optics camera built in. I’ve already been awed by the 5 Megapixel cameras built in to various N series phones, I really do wonder what kind […]
GOOD!
I installed it recently as I remembered in a previous versions which I installed I was able to hook up my PC to the Internet via my Nokia E65. There is an alternative method which is to do manual configurations, however for the less tech savvy it would require some trial and error […]
I did not realise there were buses specially fitted for Nokia. It was a rather queer yet refreshing experience for me. On my way back to work from lunch at Funan, I boarded bus 80. I did not notice anything different at first other then the ads on the exterior, but when I entered […]
Remember about 2 weeks ago I did mention that I was at the Nokia 5800 Comes with Music event. Well I queued up and was one of the lucky 58 who got to buy the phone at an amazing 58 cents. Those wondering why 58? I think it has to do with the model number […]
It’s simply amazing! With my Nokia N85 I get any music I want from the Nokia Comes with Music service (as long as the song is available). In the past, I often have to contemplate getting the latest album or songs from the local music retailers but now I get access all through a […]
You know personalising the phone is sometimes a good thing, I have Nokia E65 which is the same as the one my colleague has and there are times when I mistakenly held onto her phone only to realise the mistake when her Singtel IDEAS wallpaper starts running.
Some choose to put danglers on their phones showing […]
Thanks for all the entries, the selected entries are.

1) Nokia music phone with dedicated Audio chip for better quality playback.2) Music phone that really provide long hours of Music playback.3) Using the latest symbian 5th Edition touch interface, it really bring more life into the user interface and it’s not even a N Series […]
After the media event is the launch event, so I made my way out of Velvet (air-con environment) into the heat of the night where hundreds queued up till opposite the hotel to stand a chance to buy the Nokia 5800 Comes with Music at an unbelievable $0.58!
So a few people kind of cut my […]
Being a Nokia zone guru comes with some perks, was invited to attend the Media event at Zouk last Friday. Well the usual shaking of hands, drinks (*hick) and this round food was served.
Met fellow guru Eunice at the event, dang forget to get her autograph.
I think pictures speak louder then words so let my […]
Hi everyone, thanks for joining me in my journey with Nokia, I’ve went for various Nokia events and of course the latest being the latest Nokia 5800 Comes With Music launch party.
For those who have missed out on the fun last evening I’m giving away 2 Nokia Comes With Music Lanyards.
I need you to do […]
Hello there! Come meet my new friend, it’s only going to be for a short period of time but we’ll make the best of it. Hugs
It’s the new Nokia 5800 Come With Music, wah quite a mouth full lah but anyway it has a 1 year subscription to the service where you can download any […]
Saw this article on The Nokia Blog, think this deserves a mention. The story depicts a student, whom instead of lugging around his MacBook Pro (it rawks btw) choose to simplify things by making use of his trusty Nokia E71 to take his notes.
I guess the idea is simple, just spending a little more on […]
Party! Nokia Music is going to launch the 5800 XpressMusic with 1 year of music downloads, yeah you heard it 1 year!
It’s going to be a launch party happening at Zouk’s Carpark (I remember the day when Xbox launched at the same location). And there are some attractive incentives to turn up. I do […]
They guys over at Ripplevox are running a trail for Nokia Comes With Music, it comes with a trial handset and Starhub MaxMobile Value Data VAS. I so want to get my hands on the set and try out downloading tons of tracks!
I wonder what songs how the new S60 touch screen (Nokia 5800 […]
Finally! The mobile phone giants have come to their senses to offer a one size fits all charger for all mobile phones. This is a significant step in my opinion.
We no long have to keep the many chargers from each phone we purchase or change.
You also now can borrow any colleague’s mobile phone […]
So how was this special occasion? I know Street Fighter IV launched this day and everyone is getting their hands on this classic hit. Must have quite a few arguments that day considering it was quite anticipated, must have loads of guying rushing home to spend time with Chun Li.
My friend was nice to help […]
Today marks the day of life back with Windows. It’s now gone back to the mother ship to await repairs while they prepare a new unibody for delivery to me.
As for mobile phones, I wonder who provides the exchange policies? Does the responsibility belong to the mobile phone manufacturers or the retailers?
I understand there […]
Sounds familiar? Sometimes it’s gets really frustrating when you cannot find that remote that controls the TV and your favorite program is going to start in like 2 minutes.
For a long time I’ve always known that my digital devices can function as a remote via the Infra-red transmitter built into the device (thanks to my […]
I’ve always wondered what happens to my mobile phone it reaches it’s End of Life. I’m quite skeptical in dumping it just down the trash as I know there will be quite a fair bit of e-waste which is non-biodegradable. So What do we do to the phones after it “dies” on us?
Nokia runs […]
This was suppose to be the weekend of my life, the Unibody MacBook Pro arrived on Friday, I was elated and so looking forward to have life back to the way it was again, me and OSX. But to my dismay, right smack in the center of the screen was a black dot, so obvious […]
Sometimes it’s great to have some developers put up their wares for free and one such program is Screenshot. This lets the user take a screen shot via pre-defined “key combinations” or you can choose the combinations yourself.
Files are saved in JPEG, PNG, BMP or MBM format. In addition you can setup the software […]
As a Mac user everyone knows there is a lack of tools or software to help the both of them “talk” to each other. I’ve been a Mac user for the last couple of years (waiting for my Unibody to come) and I must say there has been some developments to embrace this other community. […]
Have you ever fell in love with your phone so much that it becomes more important then your significant other? Every two years, I get the itch, always looking at newer “models” some slim and curvy, while some big and beautiful. I wonder if I can stay loyal to just one model? (there are just […]
Sometimes you just need to see what’s going on with the computer you have running at home. And what’s more convenient that accessing your computer from your mobile phone? All you need is a network connection and your computer at home properly configured and viola! You can see your computer from your mobile phone allowing […]
I’ve saw some pretty neat stuff but some phones just fail to go into production. The concepts are good but I guess R&D and production cost are just too high for it to materialise. Another guess would be the phone would be too “advanced” for it’s time and thus the phone manufactures put them as […]
I’ve noticed this around some bus interchanges and of course MRT stations, what I can say is that with such an efficient transport system, the time it took me to find the access point, connect to it and open up my browser it was about time to board the bus.
I also gather the service […]
Looks like there are some quality phones this coming year and GPS is going to play an every important part as social media starts to penetrate deeper into our online society. Now more then just taking a picture, people want to know where you took that picture (letting them know where you went).
I’m kind of […]
Ever since the introduction of the camera on the mobile phone, most of us can now catch and share the nice and not so nice moments all from the "palm of your hand" literally.
Need to remember something? For example the latest exchange rate offering from a local bank? Took out my trusty camera phone and […]
Take out your handy mobile device and start the latest season of soccer sensation all right in the palm of your hands.
FIFA09 is out for the n-gage platform those who need a little motivation to make the jump can check out the demo first (download).
I guess if the big players like EA is investing […]
It’s been sometime since new handsets were announced by Nokia. The latest line up included the touch screen Symbian handsets which still have not seen the light of day, well at least for me.
I’m wondering what else can Nokia innovate for the mobile device arena. Navigation, 3G, touch screen have already been covered. Perhaps proximity […]
Price
First ask, what are you comfortable spending? If cost is a factor, there are quite a few $0 dollar phones available which get the job done, still providing MMS, SMS and other imaging services.
The added dollars most of the time is used to pay for, exclusivity, style, technology, status and brand. If you’re not willing […]
I just got a glimpse of the phone the other day when my good friend showed it to me. It’s not a Symbian and the functions lets say are pretty normal but gets the job done. What I like about the slide phone is the look, it’s slick and really slim for a slider. I […]
Ever so often we tend to forget the "partners" of our phone even as more services and functions get jam packed into the small confines of it’s shell. I’ve recently take a look at wireless solutions for music and I think Bluetooth audio is definitely on the cards.
Nokia offers quite a few solutions for the […]
Yep, I’ve been out of town for a couple of days for a deserved break. Enjoyed myself in Bangkok. Service is impeccable, everyone puts on a smile and thanks you for your purchases. I’ve also noticed the aggressiveness of Nokia’s marketing with large billboards showcasing the latest offerings. There was also a promotion or launch […]
So the phone has been with me for about a week now. So perhaps it’s time to take a re-look at the phone. The front works for me, I’m quite sold with the large glossy screen (Nokia I’m still waiting for your full touch screen phone). But one thing perhaps can be done better would be […]

Based on noise you make during your sleep this software will decide when you should wake up from your sleep. It is different in the sense that you do not need to set your alarm and wake up all grouchy. You’ll be refreshed and ready to face the day ahead with a […]
"At one of the workshops today in Maemo Summit, a slideshow showed a few specs of the next internet tablet after the Nokia N810. As you can see, half of the data was crossed out. I snapped a photo just in time so you can see the slide yourself.
From the slide, it shows that […]
"Espoo’s usually a pretty cold place, but HTC’s S740 has to feel the heat coming off Nokia headquarters now that the purported E75 slider has been spotted in its natural habitat. We don’t have a ton of information about this thing, but considering the length of time that transpired between the E71’s first spy […]
Just when I got my 16GB! Speculations are that the new 32GBs are coming out soon as the 8GB supply is running low.
We’re not particularly inclined to believe them, but the whispers that Apple is about to bump the top-end iPhone capacity to 32GB are getting harder to ignore — especially since 8GB […]
I’ve got a iPhone 3G and sometimes I’ll play Tap Tap revenge. It uses the touch screen and accelerometer to challenge your rhythmic sense. I’ve still yet to find such a game on the Nokia phones.
Beginning to feel like a sucker for such games, it’s pretty challenging especially when I think I’ve problems with […]
Personally the foremost importance for me is functions. I’m quite geeky and I need that all the connectivity I can get on my phone. The Internet has become second nature to me and is my walking encyclopedia and information partner. For me a phone must now at least have HSDPA and WiFi. I’m not a […]
Other then the standard accessories there are a couple of other items in the box. Anyway I like the new Nokia charger, really light and portable, gets the job done and it does not take up too much space in the bag.
What was added into this package was the car charger, I guess it’s cause […]
The Nokia N96, some new things up it’s sleeve. With DVB-H (digital broadcasts) providing you with all your video content on the go. Anyway I’m not a very big fan of the new face-lifted N series of phones. I think they feel way to plastic and very bling bling.
Shiny surfaces are finger print magnets, gone […]
Has anyone ever asked you for your opinion on a mobile phone? It’s quite fundamentally simple for some of us yet our friends and family still require that added "push" to help them in making that decision. I know that I do it too because of my uncertainty but mostly due to the need for […]
I guess that is what happens when you mobile device gets nicked or lost. You lose your contacts, photographs (if any) and all that important information which you so preciously stored into each of our mobile device.
The phone has evolved to provide a wider range of services, when in life would you have imagined that […]
Google’s less publiciced (in my opinion) mobile phone Operating System (OS) is coming soon and T-Mobile will get first dibs on selling the phone commercially (I think). The mobile device is based on Linux and is open source (although some of the stuff is still not so open). It’s much like how Nokia has […]
So you dropped that precious of yours into the toilet bowl, or perhaps your smart alec colleague of your tipped your cuppa tea over and now your phone shuts down as you look on in horror.
Well I’ve found some useful videos up on youtube which help to save your phone. Basically:
1) Switch off the phone, […]
Nope I do not have the handset but those interested should take a look at the phone.
I’m not sure but the old N95 handset seems to have a sharper look and definitely not a fingerprint magnet as it has a matt finish. Personally I think it looks like the N81.
Perhaps it’s […]
It this thing about phones, once you’re experienced something better you try very hard not to go back to something which is dated. It’s like holding on to that Nokia N95 for the first time, you feel your Nokia E65 just pales in comparison.I guess that’s just me or perhaps the general public, it’s getting […]
Was over at Starhub to renew my contract for the older version of the N95, not too bad a phone considering what the fella packs in that small shell. I do remember when my friend first got it when it launched. I think it cost about a thousand bucks then. It’s a wonder how this […]
Well the forums are abuzz even as the launch date for the iPhone 3G is drawing near in Singapore.
Quote:
“… Three new data plans (all prices with GST)
iFlexi Value - $56 - 300 MB Data - 200 Mins Outgoing Voice - 500 SMS
iFlexi Plus - $95 - 500 MB Data - 500 Mins Outgoing Voice - […]
I found out about this game from my manager who played it on his Nokia 6210, yeah it’s a ermz… entry level phone but running Symbian. So this little Java game got me intrigued and I search all over the net to find this game.
Guess what! It’s a free download or so I think, anyway […]
I was in the office the other day and wondered what would be the outcome of the Singapore Table Tennis matches as there were some very intense conversations going on in the online forums on the match but I had to see if for myself.
I remembered that Starhud did some streaming for the olympics channels […]
Was checking out the various power options to keep my power hungry phone (with 3G switched on) alive and well I stumbled upon a solution by Nokia.
Tada!! Introducting the Nokia powerpack DC-1, looks nice and keeps your phone juiced up for all you portability needs. Pretty expensive though, at approximately 105 euros a pop, I […]
I think this is a much talked about topic but mostly done in the form of stress tests, drop tests etc. But I wonder how durable should a mobile gadget be before it’s called worthy to be priced rather expensively.
Miniaturisation of parts and packing more into the phone all placed into a small encasement would […]
