I’m currently using an iPhone 3G myself and I simply love it. However, I was also very interested in the Nokia 5800 Comes with Music as I had used many Nokia Symbian phones and Windows Mobile phones in the past. I had many good experiences with Nokia phones. Therefore, when I found out I was selected for the trial, I was elated!

When I first took out the phone from the box, I was telling myself what a beauty it is! There are also a load of accessories including the TV-out cable. Although it was a bit plasticky and light, the phone felt solid. The nice matt design of the battery cover helps to maintain the grip of the phone. The interface was beautiful and very finger-friendly. I could navigate through the menus by just using my fingers without the help of the stylus.

I personally do not like the stylus as it was too slim which gave me the impression that it would break upon applying some pressure on it. But alternatives to the stylus are provided inside the package like the stylus plectrum.

I find the new Symbian OS quite speedy compared to the previous Symbian OS that I have used. Although I have about 1,800 songs inside the phone, I did not observe much slowness. The battery life was good and it could last me for about 1.5 days of moderate usage (surfing net, playing games and listening to songs plus some GPS usage). The sound quality was SUPERB on both speakers and my own earphones. Best of all, the ‘Hold’ slider switch was very convenient for me to lock/unlock the phone.

The experience was extremely good. The touch pad is sensitive and responds well to the user. I don’t think I will ever move the stylus from its position simply because it’s not needed. Nails will be good enough for me to go thru everything - SMS, surfing, music, etc. It’s light to carry and it’s so slim, I don’t even feel it in my pocket. However, I did experience software hanging while transferring files from my PC.

The trial has been a pleasant experience with only one instance in which the handset hung after an incoming call ended. Other than that, I was quite pleased with the S60 5th Edition for its fast responses. Personally, as an iPhone user, I find Nokia 5800 Comes with Music is an attractive deal for its specs and of course the Comes with Music package.

The phone’s performance has exceeded my expectations, even though it is the first touch screen phone launched by Nokia. The large screen, coupled with the user-friendly interface, makes it easy and refreshing to use. Be it writing messages, calling someone or navigating through the menu, the screen is simply sensitive to my needs. Great work!

I’ve always wanted a touch screen Nokia, been waiting for this chance for about a year since the official announcement and of course the teaser in Batman, The Dark Knight movie. I would say I like the phone (come in a pretty handy form factor), the unlimited music downloads and of course the revamped interface. Although it took a little getting used to (it’s not like the other touch screen experiences I had) but it’s easy to get the hang of it.

The highly anticipated touch screen photo from Nokia. There are a lot of accessories packaged in the box - like a stand to place your phone on the table, very similar to the Nokia N96 mini-stand. There is a casing which is not very user friendly but it does protect the phone from hazardous elements. It also comes with 7-day trial for Nokia Maps and Comes with Music serial numbers. The extra stylus is useful because the original one will get lost after loosening over time.

After using the phone for a week, I am very impressed with what Nokia has come up with given the small price tag compared to other touch screen phones. It has all the features one would look out for when purchasing a new phone. Not to mention, some of the features on the Nokia 5800 Comes with Music is one of the best that you can find in the current market, like the speakers, the big screen and the sensitive touch screen.

The overall experience after using the phone for a week was fantastic. It’s always difficult to fit all good things into a compact console but I think the Nokia 5800 Comes with Music has fared particularly well on this. The phone design is stylish and the hardware is also relatively light. Definitely recommended!

I like this phone; it’s reasonably fast, comfortable to hold and put in the pocket.
The learning curve for this phone was not as steep as I thought it would be, based on my limited experience with HTC & Samsung touch screen phones. This ease of use is much appreciated.

While the design of Nokia 5800 Comes with Music is good, after a few days of using it, I found that the User Interface could use more development.

Besides the excellent 3.2-inch display featuring 16M color and the HSDPA support, some other strong points of the phone includes: Wi-Fi, excellent GPS receiver with Nokia Maps 2.0 Touch, 8GB microSD card, TV out, 3.5mm standard audio jack and excellent music sound.

Unfortunately, one of the weak points which had to be the strongest is the user interface. It seems to be in beta testing and doesn’t offer too much functionality. Also, the lack of more business tools, even if it’s a music phone, could be annoying for those who want to read a PDF file sometimes.

The first thing of the Nokia 5800 Comes with Music that attracts me is the wide 3.2-inch touch screen. The touch screen is very responsive, scrollbars and icons are also fairly large to allow easy navigation. There’s a media key that drops a menu for direct access of all the media applications so listening to music or watching a video can be done with just one touch. The sound performance of the built-in stereo speaker is great, and I can actually mute the ringing phone by flipping it facing downwards.

With its OS stability, smooth menu transitions, crystal clear sound quality, great video playback, and downloading of songs at lightning speed, I think this Nokia 5800 Comes with Music is even better than an iPhone!

Perhaps the only drawback of this great gadget is its stylus; it is attached so tightly to the back cover that it could not slide out as smoothly but then again, that is compensated by the responsive touch screen so the usage of the stylus is actually quite minimal and limited to writing purposes.

I had a pleasant experience with the Nokia music trial. First and foremost the use interface was typically the Nokia style. It is very user friendly, even for a non Nokia user. Nothing complicated, just simple and easy. Not to forget there is also the music buffet available for music download. Other function such as Image browsing is smooth and reasonably fast. However the 3.2M pixel camera equipped with auto focus capabilities is unable to capture quality images. Quite a disappointment but not a major issue for me. The 3.5mm standard audio jack was a big plus point as I can plug in my favorite set of ear phone instead of being limited to the head set provided by the package.

There is however something that annoys me. The phone structure made the phone looks like a slider phone instead of monolith block. Almost everyone who played with the phone tried to ‘slide’ the top portion as tho it is a slide phone.

The Nokia 5800 Comes with Music offers pretty decent sound quality, audible stereo speakers, WiFi connectivity, and a sizable display. The OS is easy to operate and simple to use, the user interface is smooth and fast in response. It is rather light weight for its size and do pack a lot of functions in.

The outlook of this phone, inclusive of design, is not outstanding. In fact, from the back of the phone, it just looks like a typical Nokia candy bar phone. Nothing really distinguishes this phone from the back. However, I have to admit that I do loveeeeeee <3 the big screen that this Nokia phone has! Although the screen looks longish but still, the quality and colors of the interface is good!

Material wise and feel of the phone, unfortunately it feels quite “plastic”. It doesn’t really give an executive feel or look. Weight of the phone is light. Not as bulky or fat as my current N95. The other thing I like is that this phone camera is well protected behind the back cover of the phone.

One special feature of this phone is definitely the shortcut key to music and of course, the slide up key that enables me to lock my mobile phone. I feel that it is actually not so good to have a slide up key to lock and unlock. Based on experience, if I slide my phone down my jeans pocket, sometimes I will accidentally unlock the phone by mistake. Another feedback from my friend who used to have the other Nokia phone, the slide button tends to wear and tear quite easily.

The Nokia 5800 Comes with Music is a complete all-in-one gadget that everyone wishes to own. Though it’s the early stages of touch screen Symbian OS phone, it is easy to adapt if you previously own a Nokia phone with Symbian OS. From the home screen to the menus, connectivity, media, profiles, contact list and dial pad can be accessed readily via a single tap or two, making it a worthwhile competitor to the other touch screen phones in the market. Syncing with a MAC via iSync is a breeze – making contacts and calendar syncing easier in minutes! However, the build of the phone and feel seems like holding a cheap toy plastic phone and the OS didn’t respond fast enough when tapping on certain controls. But for the touch feel, Nokia did a great job in providing stylus and the pick for users who are not comfortable using their fingers. I enjoyed the touch experience without the use of the stylus and pick. Overall, the phone feels loud (music), complete with various connectivity options and easy to handle once you get a hang of it.

Given that it is Nokia’s first touch-screen phone, I must say the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone is quite a well thought-out and developed product.

This phone has become quite a conversation starter since I had it. It’s in classy black, has a glossy finish and is quite slim at 15.5mm. I have been using the Sony Ericsson W960i for the past year and wouldn’t mind switching to this phone permanently.
