Entertainment

In addition to e-mail & personal information management, the Nokia E71 supports the latest OVI services including maps, music & media sharing that you expect. This includes fast & seamless browsing with HSDPA, WiFi & 3G connectivity, A-GPS & Nokia Maps for navigation, a music player with support for up to 8GB expandable memory & a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera.

The 3 megapixel auto-focus camera is quite standard. I do not have the habit of reading manuals, but for the E71, I had to before I could figure out how to use the auto-focus feature. Due to the screen orientation, one need not turn the camera sideway to take pictures.

The device comes with a good list of multimedia solutions such as a built-in radio, music player and a video player, but do not expect much from it since it’s not designed for entertainment. Still, it does get the job done as well. More format support is hoped for.

Listening to music via the headset is okay, but when I used the speakers, it’s quite hollow and sometimes gave a crackling sound. Same thing whenever I pressed the scroll buttons. I am not sure if it’s something to do with my set or whether it’s across the board. I did try to play a video, but the quality is not so desirable. A bigger screen would be better. But of course, a bigger screen also means a bigger phone, unless the keypad can be designed to slide out to minimize its overall dimensions.
