In addition to e-mail & personal information management, the Nokia E71 supports the latest OVI services including maps, music & media sharing that you expect. This includes fast & seamless browsing with HSDPA, WiFi & 3G connectivity, A-GPS & Nokia Maps for navigation, a music player with support for up to 8GB expandable memory & a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera.

The Nokia E71 comes with an expandable microSD card slot which comes in handy for storing my music and media. I would prefer it if the headphone jack is 3.5mm, rather than 2.5mm. The 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus is decent, but not the best I’ve seen, although it’s definitely sufficient for casual trigger-happy users. I’ve tried watching videos from Youtube and the 2.4″ screen looks clear and easy on the eyes.

As expected from a business phone, the 3.2-megapixel camera did not perform well, especially in low light. Its video quality, on the other hand, is still quite acceptable for me. The speakers are loud and clear too, as usual for Nokia. I was disappointed that the phone hangs and auto shuts down when I was waiting for connections to the internet. This did not happen only once.

Streaming videos from YouTube was a cinch with the Nokia E71’s ability to support Flash, WMA and MP4, as well as its 3G and WiFi connectivity which allowed for seamless streaming. I could even take cool videos that were at high-resolution for my company lunch. But I’m a music buff, so I zeroed in on the Nokia E71’s MP3 function. With the Nokia E71’s MP3 playing capabilities and expandable memory, which I used both for work and for my collection of songs, I actually went without my MP3 player for the entire week! Couple limitless storage with deep, rich sound quality and it really puts the icing on the Nokia E71 cake.
