Internet

Have the web at your fingertips with the fast connection of High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA), sometimes referred to as 3.5G. Need easy access? Just find a hotspot and use your Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) to get connected straight to the information superhighway.

I love the WiFi! I can MSN, check my e-mail and surf the internet with the phone when I’m out! It wasn’t really slow, faster than what I was expecting.

It’s a breeze to connect to the internet and download anything I want online. I especially enjoy it when surfing on my phone via Wi-Fi. Nothing beats having a fast internet connection.

Having a big screen and a browser supporting Flash Lite 3, browsing YouTube on a phone has never been easier! HSDPA speeds are easily achieved and streaming movies online went smoothly. With the mouse cursor method of surfing via a phone, it’s the closest experience I’ve had that matches desktop surfing. And best of all, having WiFi built-in means nobody has to be offline anymore!

With built-in WiFi and HSDPA, the phone is well equipped to hook you up to the Internet. The built in browser still needs some tweaking, but it does show the web-pages properly. I’ll still go for the Opera web browser, but it takes quite a while to startup. Of course, not forgetting the Download icon, where lots of great trials and free software are available for download. Try out WidSets, they’re little widgets that help pull information from the internet, so subscribe to your favorite internet feeds and stay informed.

Since I have a data plan, I’ve been surfing the web and MSN on the phone when I’m not using my PC. Surfing speed is fast on this 3.5G phone. Having equipment that allows connection to the net anytime, any where is something I need. Do note that the battery life will suffer after getting connected online for some time, but that should not pose a problem as nowadays, phone chargers are quite light and small, handy for placing in your bag.

I am able to access the internet using 3G and wireless network (broadband) easily, but I still have the same comments for the button to navigate around with, as it is too sensitive and not easy to use.

I tried the Wi-Fi while waiting for my taxi at Harbour Front last Saturday. It works great with the Wireless@SG network. I managed to check my e-mail and update my blog during that time (..the taxi wait was that long..) and the speed is quite comparable to the E51’s WLAN.

A great Internet experience is just as good as the services that are being offered by the service provider. With online services such as Share on Ovi, I especially love the online uploading and sharing of pictures and videos; and with the Nokia Music Store support for the N78, multimedia options are aplenty for the internet savvy crowd. So Nokia, please give us more of such cutting-edge services for the mobile platform! As of writing this, apparently Nokia is the only one offering such services on the internet.

I really like the Wi-Fi and don’t have it in my current phone, so it’s great to be able to surf anywhere with this function. It’s easy to set-up and use too. The mini-map function is very useful to pinpoint my location on the page I am surfing.

Internet browsing with the Nseries has never been a problem, unlike other brands which will hang or illegally close the browser when pages with high picture intensity are loaded. Orientation of the browser needed a few clicks as automatic UI rotation is lacking.

Surfing on the N78 is a breeze with the web browser in the phone. Pages load up similarly to that of one you might see on a PC and scrolling through large pages is easy with a mini-map that appears to guide you on your exact location on the page. Surfing speed is great using WiFi when connected to Wireless@SG and even faster with HSDPA. Scrolling through multiple pages is also easy with the back key which stores pages previously visited in its memory. In all, I was not disappointed with surfing on the N78.

My surfing experience using wireless LAN was good. Connections were stable, unlike my previous experiences with other phones using wireless LAN where connections were lost at times and I had to reconnect time and again.

With HSDPA and Wi-Fi, what more can I ask for? It’s the best combination when partnered with an unlimited data plan. Web surfing when I’m on the go? Cool!

Connecting to the net via HSDPA was remarkably smooth and quick with stable connections being maintained throughout. Minimum lag was experienced. With the ability to set a priority connection, switching over to a faster connection was seamless and hassle-free.

Setting up to surf from your home wireless is easy, as well as searching for hotspots. Surfing is good on the big screen. You can rotate the webpage to be displayed either on portrait or landscape mode. But don’t expect it to show the popular Facebook webpage properly.

With WiFi available throughout Singapore, having internet access on the go is simply lovely. With its fast speed, I was able to surf, chat, mail and blog easily, unlike all my previous phones. Who doesn’t love surfing on the go, especially during waiting times?

Browsing the internet on the Nokia N78 is a pleasure. Despite its small screen size, all the prints on the web page I browsed are readable. The virtual mouse cursor is definitely a must have for all future phones as it’s easy to use and control, almost like browsing on a PC. Navigating through large sites is made easy with the mini-maps. Generally, I am very satisfied with the Nokia N78’s internet capabilities.

The WiFi feature has definitely answered the needs of users who are deprived of the internet all the time as we can access the free wireless network at any café, anytime, anywhere with the Nokia N78! Moreover, the graphics are exactly the same as what you see on the net and the downloading time is rather fast!

The web browsing experience is very good. Although the page takes quite awhile to load, but once the page is loaded, the browser handles it flawlessly. The page layouts are neat, and the browser scrolls through the log pages quickly. Typing on the keypad causes some inconvenience, but once all the bookmarks are loaded, it is still an overall pleasant experience.

The signals detected from the phone’s WiFi device of any WiFi hotspots are strong. The only thing is that sometimes, the downloading is slow. As for GPRS access, it is fine. As the screen is small, I would not recommend this for surfing, but for accessing e-mails instead.

What more could you ask for when you have both WiFi and HSDPA built into a phone? With WiFi, surfing the net is a breeze, just search for your preferred network, connect to it and begin surfing. The built-in browser supports Java as well as Flash, which means any website can be loaded! With a broadband enabled SIM card using HSDPA to surf the net was also very fast.

Cons: Lags sometimes and tends to hang or auto-shutdown.

At this point in time, exhorbitant 3G charges in Singapore discourage people from accessing via 3G. Wi-Fi is still slow if you consider that most people have access to broadband at work and home. The keypad design discourages me from logging on to Wireless@SG, even for casual surfing.

Accessing the internet was smooth after overcoming my initial problem of setting up the connectivity. What I love most was that I could even download satellite images of my present location. Although it took quite awhile to load up, it’s nice to have if I am on a self-drive holiday and it would be a blast.
