I’m very disappointed with the camera. It’s pretty okay whenever I use it to take self-shots. Other than that, I don’t really think it’s a good camera. N82 still has the best camera, in my honest opinion.

Location tagging is a great tool that automatically tags my images without having me do all the work. However, with only just 3.2 megapixels, it makes it difficult for high-end phone users who have been enjoying taking pictures on their mobile phone to switch to the N78 for such a novelty.

Nonetheless, the images look sharp with stable hands and a flash if the room light is dim. While the camera captures best during daytime, it is a disappointment for night shots. This works best for people who are not picky about their photo quality.

Being quite disappointed at having only a 3.2 megapixel camera, as a hobbyist photographer, I gave the camera a second chance after discovering what was lacking in resolution was compensated with the colours and quality of the image. There was barely any shutter-lag and autofocus was pretty fast. And it even supports Geotagging!

3.2 megapixels is not much to shout about, but the camera does take and get me what I really need. Some good quality candid shots are what this phone is about, fire up the camera and capture that moment when you need it. The 2GB memory is not much with microSD cards going up to 8GB, a quick upgrade would give more space for more images and songs, especially since the phone is always on the move with you.

I compared the photo quality with the N82 and found that the colours are better on the N78. The N82 tends to overexpose subjects with its flash, while the N78 doesn’t have this problem. The Carl Zeiss Optics did its part in producing vivid pictures. Say goodbye to dull pictures.

At 3.2 megapixels, the picture quality was acceptable. Images taken were clear and colourful, although personally, I felt it was a bit too saturated. One noticeable function was the Geotagging, which provided the location information in the EXIF data. I took some pictures and checked the location via Nokia Maps and Google Maps and it was accurate. So there’s no worry about forgetting where the picture was taken, especially while travelling overseas. I tried it in a hawker centre (is that considered indoor?) and the Geotagging was successful.

Taking photos on the N78 is easier and faster than other phones that I have used and the quality of the pictures are good and clear. My only comment is that the button to navigate between photos is too sensitive.

As it is with the N73, the N78’s pictures are great in results. I have even used some of the photos to print as an A2 (420 x 594 mm) poster for a client. And the new camera start button (activated by pressing for a few seconds) is very much better than the N73 version of having a sliding cover. I had a lot of problems with that. And the location tagging capability is cool too. This will be great in creating blogs and the tagging pictures look great in it.

I was never big on using my mobile as a camera, but having the N78 with 3.5-megapixels and packing a Carl Zeiss lens with quick snapping features, it’s just a shame not to. So I’m now taking great pictures & sending it to all my friends in my contact list in my phone! Hehe.. My social quotient has gone up.

The camera works well and has a better resolution when compared with my Sony Ericsson, which has the same number of megapixels. Could it be due to the Carl Zeiss lens? Although for a new phone, I would have expected the camera to have a higher number of megapixels, like maybe 5? I like the photo gallery view.

With its 3.2-megapixel camera using Carl Zeiss Optics, daylight photography produces precise and low-noise shoots. Night shots produce high-levels of noise, but macro shooting was quite impressive as it produces low noise levels and bright colours.

Even with the Carl Zeiss lens, autofocus and 3.2-megapixels, photos taken with the phone turned out a little disappointing as compared with other 3.2-megapixel camera handphones. The images produced were blur and noisy at times, even under good lighting conditions. Video captured similarly produced sub-par standards. However, the colour representation of the images and video captured are good and the slightly poorer image quality can be compensated with the numerous settings available for use.

Taking photos was fast, unlike other phones which require lengthy processing times. Picture quality on the phone was good and I could not tell the difference between the pictures taken by an N95 and an N78 just by viewing it on the screen.

This aspect of the phone could be improved with a Xenon flash as the pictures taken were too dark, but overall, it’s still clear.

Photos taken were of high quality with one example of my hand print being very visible and clear. In environments with bright light, photos taken tend to be dark with overcompensation clearly seen.

It’s a handy phone camera if you want to lighten some load off your bag. Pictures taken are good if you do not have shaky hands. Remember to clean the lens since there is no lens cover.

For a photo lover like me, the 3.2 megapixel camera came in handy when I wanted to capture some pictures for projects. The picture came out sharp and I must say, the flash is pretty strong, but it seldom overexposes the picture. The resolution was pretty fine and the autofocus was quite fast, the picture quality really didn’t disappoint me.

The photo gallery of the Nokia N78 is simply great with its 3D rotating view and having the Navi-Wheel makes browsing tons of photos fast. Holding on the D-pad longer also does the same, but using the Navi-Wheel is much cooler. The photo menu offers extensive settings - including manual white balance, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, and sharpness & contrast settings- a must have for any serious camera phone. The photos taken are sharp, nice and accurate except for shadow details which are very noisy. And in dark shots, the flash is not powerful enough to compensate for the lack of lighting.

Being an avid fan of photography, the Nokia N78 has definitely satisfied the basic needs that I could ever ask for from a phone. Its 3.2-megapixel Carl Zeiss Optics lens makes it possible for me to take all images that I want when I’m too lazy to whip out my DSLR camera. The picture quality has exceeded my expectations for a mobile phone.

I was fascinated by the video & camera quality. It’s a very good 3.2 megapixel camera that produces very sharp and clear photos. The good video and sound recording quality were also up to my satisfaction.

The 3.2 megapixel camera provides good looking pictures through its easy-to-use interface with many options such as white balance and ISO settings to make sure you capture the moment. The camera also processes the pictures quickly so you won’t miss your next shot. Macro images are also very sharp, making sure you don’t miss the details.

Pros: Thumbs up for its 3.2 megapixel auto-focus camera: it shoots clear & detailed pictures!
Cons: The camera’s side button tends not to respond properly at times.

At 3.2 megapixels, it’s nothing to shout about. It’s interesting that Nokia’s included autofocus. It would have been even better if they included a camera cover as well to prevent scratches. What I don’t like is that every time you switch to camera mode, it automatically rotates to horizontal view.

I use this function quite a fair bit as my job requires photo taking at short notice. The pictures on the phone were sharp and clear and fortunately, I have this phone to save the day.
