Search & Maps

Wished you could search through messages, calendar event details, contacts and other files in your mobile phone? Well, the Nokia N95 has native search function to let you do just that. What’s more, with Yahoo! search built in, your search queries will always be answered. And with built-in GPS and maps of over 150 cities, the Nokia N95 is also your little trusty guide to bring you places.

I found that the built-in GPS was not really on par with the bequivalent in my HP iPAQ. It needed a while to get a GPS fix and for me to get used to the navigation system along with its bundled maps.

On top of all that, Nokia has also packed a GPS module into the N95, along with maps. With it, you get color maps, route planning and a healthy point-of-interest database. There’s also a trip computer that shows you information such as the total distance traveled, time, average speed, and so forth. The N95’s GPS performance was satisfactory, although it took quite a while for the unit to get a satellite fix. Once connected though, it did a good job of tracking our position and gave accurate route calculations.

Asia Maps function allowed me to see where I was in Singapore when I was using it. The N95 is a great GPS device.
