ClearVid CMOS Sensor™ with Exmor™-derived Technology
The ClearVid CMOS Sensor™ with Exmor™-derived Technology is the component which captures video through the camcorder’s lens. It boasts high sensitivity to light, thanks to the sensor’s greater light-gathering area, an array of capture pixels arranged diagonally for optimum efficiency. This means a greater ability to capture even the smallest details in a scene, resulting in phenomenal image clarity.

BIONZ™ Imaging Processor
Once image data is captured by the ClearVid CMOS Sensor™, it is processed through Sony’s BIONZ™ Imaging Processor. This component handles large amounts of HD image data at high speed. This processing ability is what powers HD Handycam® features such as Dual Rec, Smooth Slow Rec., Face Detection and D-Range Optimiser.
1920x1080i Full HD Resolution
Once you go Full HD, you’ll never go back to Standard Definition (SD). With a resolution of 1920x1080i, Full HD has 5 times the image detail of SD, which means exceptional picture clarity, even up close. Face Detection Technology
One of the benefits brought forth by the BIONZ™ Imaging Processor is the advanced Face Detection technology on Sony’s latest range of HD Handycam® camcorders. This allows the camcorder to track subjects’ faces as they move. Capable of detecting up to 8 faces within a frame simultaneously, Face Detection automatically compensates for focus, exposure and color control in order to optimize facial image quality.
