Expert Advice: Pack An Extra Battery! |
Even if you get tired from running after your toddler, your camcorder need not be. It’s often prudent to bring along extra
batteries, especially when you’re taking your toddler on vacation, and a compatible outlet may be hard to find.
ActiFORCE™ Batteries

batteries charge 25% faster
than other rechargeable
batteries. The new H series

capacities, charging speeds,

calculation of remaining
capacity.
Angles
If you want to show your “little man”
going about his toddler days, it pays
to explore shot angles before pressing
REC. Go down to his eye level, to see
the world from your child’s perspective.
Angle up when you capture his mom
talking to him. To a toddler, parents
seem larger than life, and a lower
shooting position achieves just that.
Exploring different camera angles
will improve your storytelling skills by
adding extra depth to your shots.
Focus On The Eyes
The eyes are a window to one’s
soul. This is true for toddlers
as it is for adults. When going
in close on your subject, it is
best to train your focus on the
subject’s eyes. Everything else
might be out of focus, if you use
Tele Macro, for example, but if
the eyes are in sharp focus, then
your shot will work. When taking
a wider shot, keep focus on your
subject’s face, especially if what
you want to capture is emotion.
TIP:
Toddlers (and babies)
often have a mind of their
own and won’t sit still for
anything. Mitigate this by
having a colorful toy handy
when you want to capture his
attention. Waving it off-camera
while you’re shooting video
will often result in the child
glancing in your direction, at
least for a little while. |
