BIONZ™ Imaging Processor

BIONZ™ Imaging Processor

Once light passes through the sensor, it is received and processed by the BIONZ™ Imaging Processor. The huge amount of high definition data captured by the sensor undergoes high speed processing through this electronic “brain,” allowing such features as the D-Range Optimiser, Dual Rec, Face Detection, to name a few. It also makes for ultra smooth video recording as well as crisp, clear still image capture.

1920x1080i Full HD Resolution

A world as vast and variegated as ours deserves to be captured in its full awesomeness. With 1920x1080i Full HD Resolution, Sony’s HD Handycam® camcorders enable you to do just that. In documentaries, it’s often the little details that pop out, and Full HD will certainly deliver. With up to 6 times more image data that of 720x480 Standard Definition (SD), 1920x1080i Full HD lets you see details up close without losing definition. Watch your Full HD video on Sony’s Full HD BRAVIA LCD TVs to best appreciate your footage.

D-Range Optimiser

One of the key features found in the latest HD Handycam® camcorders is a result of the BIONZ™ Imaging Processor: the D-Range Optimiser (DRO). The DRO helps ensure that the videos you capture are properly exposed, taking into account the ambient lighting conditions during your shoot. Especially useful in difficult lighting situations, such as when your subject is against an overly bright background, the DRO compensates for the differences in light level by adjusting your exposure to make sure both subject and background are well rendered, without sacrificing detail.

The DRO ensures your images are properly exposed, even under difficult lighting conditions.
